Spain is a member of the European Union from the date of its legal establishment by the Maastricht Treaty, which came into force in 1993. Among the other 28 member states, Spain enjoys all the benefits that are offered by the internal single market through a standardized system of laws, including free movement of people, goods, services and capital.

The Golden Visa for Spain is a residence visa issued to a non-EU national who intends to make a significant investment in the Spanish economy.

BENEFITS OF SPANISH GOLDEN VISA

  • Permanent Residency Permit gets issued within 2 months.
  • First Permanent Residency Permit issued for the term of 2 years; subsequent ones – for 5 years.
  • Right to live and work in Spain.
  • Free right to travel within the Schengen area.
  • No obligation to stay in Spain any fixed number of days during a year.
  • Right to apply for Spanish citizenship after 10 years (subject to meeting various requirements).
  • International Double Tax Treaties with more than 90 countries.

KEY CRITERIA

  • Obtain a clean criminal record issued by the country of origin.
  • Make a deposit of at least €20,000 with a Spanish bank for the purposes of the application, originating from outside This deposit should increase by €20,000 for each family member.
  • Purchase of real estate property for a minimum amount of €500,000. (Other eligible investments include: investments of €2,000,000 in Spanish public debt; investment of €1,000,000 in shares of Spanish companies; or deposit of €1,000,000 with a Spanish bank.).
  • A valid Schengen visa (unless the applicant holds a passport that exempts from this requirement).
  • No prior citizenship application rejections by any other EU country.
  • Two visits to Spain required to provide biometrics for Permanent Residency Permit and receipt of the Permanent Residency Permit. Then the minimum of one visit every year thereafter.
  • Obtain health insurance from a Spanish insurance company.
